The October 13 announcements move Workday from copilots toward background agents.

Workday Bets Its Strategy on Sana, an Agent System of Record and Skills Data

Workday made Sana the home for its employee experience on October 13, SiliconANGLE reported, with agents that work in the background triggered by data changes rather than chat prompts. It added Work Intelligence, which tracks how AI changes tasks and the skills they require using Skills Cloud, which more than 3,450 customers use and which rests on an ontology of over 75,000 canonical skills.

Workday also agreed to acquire agentic identity platform ConductorOne to combine with its Agent System of Record. The combination positions Workday as the place where employee records, skills data and agent permissions meet. Pricing and availability dates were not stated.
