Ema, which builds "AI employees" that coordinate agents across HR, IT and finance, ties pricing to task completion and business outcomes instead of software seats or AI tokens, TechCrunch reported on September 23. CEO Surojit Chatterjee said customers are moving away from large SaaS applications because "they are mostly becoming like a database," and that "progress in frontier models is actually very beneficial to us."
The strategy depends on sitting above existing applications and capturing value from workflow completion. The company reports revenue bookings above $150 million including multiyear contracts, which is not annual recurring revenue, and about 180% net dollar retention.
