CNBC reported in January that McKinsey had 25,000 personalized AI agents alongside 40,000 human employees. The figure is notable because McKinsey is both an adopter and an adviser on how companies should restructure around AI.
An agent-to-employee ratio of that size forces questions about management: who supervises the agents, how their work is checked, and what skills the human workforce needs. These are the transformation questions most large enterprises have not yet answered.
