Editorial: One Definition of Annualized Revenue Before the IPOs

In a week, OpenAI's reported annualized revenue moved from roughly $70 billion to approaching $50 billion because of differing definitions. TechCrunch notes Anthropic counts sales through cloud partners and OpenAI does not, and Anthropic's own $16.8 billion Q3 figure leaves gross versus net unclear.

Our position: before either company lists, it should state revenue on the same net basis, define adjusted profitability, and let investors compare like with like. Public markets will force this anyway; doing it early builds trust.
