At a Fortune Brainstorm AI virtual event moderated by Jeremy Kahn, Accenture global chief technology officer Marc Warner said the number of organizations "that have been really, truly reinvented with AI at the absolute core is basically close to zero." Most companies use AI at the edges, such as marketing, meeting notes and transcription, with coding an exception because its returns can be measured.
Warner called AI transformations "politics projects" and said he had previously viewed them as technology projects. AXA's Matthieu Caillat said the work is less about technology and more about how to bring people along, and Mastercard's Greg Ulrich said no one has solved the politics of large organizations. Fortune's headline said no companies have truly changed; Warner's claim was that the number is close to zero.
