AXA started with about 400 AI use cases before narrowing its focus, Matthieu Caillat said at Fortune's Brainstorm AI event. Its 2027 to 2029 plan targets 500 million to 700 million euros per year in recurring pre-tax value from AI by 2029, and it has about 4 billion unstructured documents it is starting to use.
Caillat said AXA used to "measure twice and cut once" but "can't afford that anymore," reflecting the pace of change. Pruning a long list of pilots to a few high-value programs is a common transformation lesson, though the target is a company aim, not a result.
