DatacenterDynamics reported that Meta established "Meta Compute," a new effort to plan multiple gigawatt-plus scale AI data centers. Mark Zuckerberg said Meta is planning to build "tens of gigawatts this decade, and hundreds of gigawatts or more over time."
Meta has since backed the ambition with projects, including a $27 billion joint venture with Blue Owl for a gigawatt-scale campus in Louisiana and a $10 billion El Paso facility. The question hanging over this strategy, visible in Meta's stock reaction to heavy spending, is how and when it converts into revenue.
