NTT Data launched a new AI-focused business arm, AIVista, based in Silicon Valley, and named Bratin Saha as its chief executive officer. The move follows a pattern among large IT services firms of spinning out a distinct AI-branded entity rather than folding AI capability into existing business units, a structure intended to let the new arm move and hire at the pace AI talent markets demand.
Standalone AI arms carry real organizational tradeoffs: they can move faster and recruit more competitively than a unit embedded in a decades-old services business, but they also risk becoming disconnected from the client relationships and delivery capability that made the parent company valuable in the first place.
