ServiceNow announced AI Passport on October 15, a cryptographically signed credential that defines an agent's identity, permitted actions, accessible systems and accountable owner, SiliconANGLE reported. Issued through its AI Control Tower, it carries permissions across agents, tools and vendors and supports third-party agents, with checks performed as work executes.
Responses are graduated: an organization can pause an agent by revoking session tokens, restrict its tool and endpoint access, or deactivate it by revoking credentials, and later restore it with a recorded explanation, which ServiceNow calls "a dimmer switch." AI Control Tower also adds shadow AI detection with more than 400 vendor connectors. AI Passport, shadow AI detection and AI Cost Management arrive later this quarter.
