Researcher Interview: Anthropic’s Evan Hubinger and Samuel Marks Respond to Coxon

After Coxon's resignation, Anthropic's alignment science lead Evan Hubinger confirmed that the company believes AI could kill all humans and said he personally puts the chance above 10% within the next decade. He added that Anthropic has no plan yet to solve alignment for superintelligence and is not clearly on track to get one, Fortune reported.

Samuel Marks, who leads Anthropic's Cognitive Oversight team, posted in a personal capacity that AI developers believe their technology could cause human extinction and that "the more senior the employee, the more concerned they are." He said commercial pressure and fear of less responsible competitors keep companies building. Neither post is an official company statement.
