Researcher View: METR Gets Inside Anthropic, With the Right to Publish

METR, a nonprofit that tests frontier AI models, is the only evaluator in the top tier of Anthropic's new access system, which includes employee-level access, TechCrunch reported. Middle-tier evaluators get more information and can publish without approval; bottom-tier evaluators such as SecureBio run narrow reviews and need Anthropic's approval to publish.

Anthropic says it wants to close the gap between what evaluators understand about a frontier company's systems and what the company itself understands. The article includes no direct quotes from METR.
