Reflection AI’s Beam Was Trained on Nvidia Systems Rented From SpaceX

Reflection AI released Beam, its first open-weight model, five days before the Financial Times reported Nvidia was in early talks to acquire it or invest more, SiliconANGLE reported on October 11. Beam is a 501-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model positioned against lower-cost Chinese open models such as DeepSeek and Kimi.

It was trained on Nvidia GB300 systems rented from SpaceX under a June agreement worth up to $6.3 billion, with $150 million monthly payments for capacity at SpaceX's Colossus 2 data center in Memphis through 2029. Nebius agreed in July to sell Reflection another $1 billion in AI capacity. Laskin told CNBC in April that the latest round closed at a $25 billion pre-money valuation.
