Daniel Dines founded UiPath in Bucharest, Romania in 2005, building it over roughly two decades from a niche robotic process automation vendor into a publicly traded enterprise automation company. After a period with another executive serving as CEO, Dines returned to the role directly in June 2024, retaining the Executive Chairman title alongside it.
Dines has steered UiPath's product strategy toward "agentic automation" as RPA alone has become commoditized, pushing the company's platform to combine traditional rules-based robots with newer AI agents capable of more flexible, less rigidly scripted task execution.
