OpenAI Launches Frontier, a Way for Enterprises to Build and Manage AI Agents

OpenAI launched a platform for enterprises to build and manage AI agents, TechCrunch reported on February 5. The Frontier platform was initially available to only a limited number of users, with plans to roll out more generally in the coming months.

The product moves OpenAI from supplying models to supplying the management layer around them, where it competes directly with Salesforce, ServiceNow, Microsoft and Google. For buyers it raises a procurement question: whether to build agent governance on a model vendor's platform or on a neutral one.
