OpenAI and Common Sense Media Back a California Ballot Measure on AI and Kids

OpenAI and Common Sense Media joined on a California ballot measure that would require companies to undergo independent audits and report them to the California attorney general, Axios reported in January. Enforcement would run through the attorney general and financial penalties rather than a private right of action.

The measure pairs a company with a child-advocacy group, which critics may see as a way to shape the rules a company will face. The same company was sued by eight states on October 14 over child safety.
