Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell told CNBC on October 13 that AI models "have to have safeguards and controls" and that "there's a role for government to play," while companies building AI tools need to set "bounded permissions." He declined to specify the government's role, saying he is "not a policymaker."
In the same interview he said growing opposition to data centers is "a good thing." Dell's stock fell 11% the next day after a Barclays downgrade on enterprise AI timing.
