Zoom Introduces a Unified Context Layer to Give AI Agents Shared Memory Across Business Apps

Zoom announced a Unified Context Layer at its Zoomtopia virtual conference, giving AI agents shared memory and context so they can act on meetings, calls and customer interactions across business applications. SiliconANGLE's Paul Gillin reported the updates on October 20.

What the layer does

It combines conversation intelligence with data from connected systems, including Salesforce, ServiceNow and Workday, and builds a graph linking people, topics and decisions that is updated in near real time. Chief product officer Russell Dicker said: “The context layer has already synthesized and distilled that information.” In internal benchmarks, Zoom says the approach cut costs by 45% to 65% compared with standalone agents, without independent validation. Agentic search draws on Zoom and more than 40 third-party applications.

New features

ZoomMate Agent Teams assign specialized agents to parts of a project, with a lead agent combining the output for human review. My Notes expands into workflow automation, sending summaries to Salesforce and Zoom Chat. A planned live meeting assistant would privately suggest answers during meetings, which Leo Bolton, who leads product solutions and industry marketing, described as looking up answers “the second a question comes your way.” Translated audio can be broadcast without each listener needing a separate license. For customer experience, Zoom announced CX Insights, Agent Architect and Customer Workflow Orchestrator, with Zoom Virtual Agent expanding to kiosks, plus a Revenue Accelerator for prospecting, lead enrichment and stalled-deal detection. Developers get 15 new AI services and Platform Studio.

Governance and availability

Governance features include sensitivity labels that sync with Microsoft Purview, centralized AI management, custom guardrails and planned deepfake detection with confidence scores. The Unified Context Layer and ZoomMate Agent Teams are available now, while many other features are scheduled through early 2027. The article does not mention pricing.
