Ghost, led by a 19-year-old founder, raised $11 million to build a $3,499 computer for running a personal AI, TechCrunch reported on October 5. Andreessen Horowitz led the round with Abstract, Audacious Ventures, Nova and SV Angel.
The price point puts the device alongside high-end consumer hardware, in contrast to Amazon's $75 to $100 Bee wearables launched ten days later. The two show a split in how companies think personal agents will run: on dedicated local machines or in lightweight capture devices linked to the cloud.
