In a CBS Sunday interview reported by Fortune on September 21, Jensen Huang said "2030 is not going to be the end of the world. There is a 0% chance that's going to be the end of the world." He said people spreading doomsday narratives "must be doing it for ulterior reasons" and that "scaring people is unnecessary."
He said safety concerns are legitimate and that AI should advance "as fast as we can, but not faster than we should," but framed it mainly as an engineering problem and said companies should be held to existing laws before new AI rules are written. "They're asking to be relieved of the laws we do have," he said. He did not name anyone; Fortune placed Altman and Amodei at the center of the debate.
