OpenAI Reportedly Seeks $30 Billion at a Roughly $1.4 Trillion Valuation

TechCrunch reported on September 29 that OpenAI is in talks to raise at least $30 billion at a valuation of roughly $1.4 trillion, a pre-IPO round according to Bloomberg's reporting. OpenAI's last valuation was $852 billion, set in a $122 billion round in March.

The company confidentially filed its IPO prospectus with the SEC in June but has not disclosed when it plans to list. Sam Altman has said an IPO would be ill-advised right now and that OpenAI will not aim for one until next year, and CFO Sarah Friar told employees in August the company would be public in 2027 or sooner.
