Google Puts a Unified Gemini Agent in Front of Business Customers

Google used a Google Cloud event on October 8 to announce a single Gemini agent that does more than answer questions: it can carry out tasks on a user's behalf from one interface. It is available in private preview to a select group of customers, with wider availability promised but no date given.

Two details stand out for enterprise buyers. The agent can already use Anthropic's Claude models alongside Google's own Gemini models, and Google says it will be included at no additional charge where Gemini Enterprise is available. Related coverage describes persistent Gemini agents for long-running tasks that get their own Gmail, Calendar and Drive storage.

Coverage did not cite independent benchmarks for how reliably the agent completes lengthy, cross-application work, so claims about its capability should be treated as vendor claims for now.
