Windows 11 Gets Execution Containers to Sandbox AI Agents

Microsoft says the feature will be available to all Windows 11 users, alongside local-first Copilot tasks.

Windows 11 Gets Execution Containers to Sandbox AI Agents

At its October 7 event, Microsoft introduced Execution Containers for Windows 11, which make it easier to sandbox AI agents, and said the feature will be available to all Windows 11 users, according to Fortune. Copilot head Jacob Andreou said Copilot can run tasks without accessing the cloud when they do not need heavy compute.

The design echoes a principle Jensen Huang described days later, comparing agents to websites in a browser: sealed in containers so they cannot reach beyond the access they are given. Satya Nadella posted on October 10 that "we must assume a model is compromised and contain it from the start."
