Six AI Companies Sign a White House Accord Trump Calls ‘Morally Binding’

The heads of six major AI companies signed a White House accord on September 29 pledging independent audits and board-level oversight, CNBC and Euronews reported. It has no penalties, and President Trump called it "morally binding." The signatories are OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Nvidia and xAI.

Anthropic's decision to give METR employee-level access on October 15 is a concrete step under that commitment, and OpenAI pledged the same approach. Congress has passed no federal AI law and is out of session until after the November midterms.
