MIT Sloan Management Review, in collaboration with BCG's Henderson Institute, published this report in November 2025 based on a survey of 2,102 executives across 21 industries and 116 countries. It finds that organizations adopting agentic AI face four distinct strategic tensions as they scale beyond pilots, and that a majority of executives are increasingly coming to view agentic AI as a "coworker" rather than simply a tool.
The report's practitioner-oriented framing has made it a frequently cited reference point for executives navigating the shift from experimental generative AI use to more autonomous, agent-based deployment across enterprise functions.
