Anthropic Economic Index: Learning Curves

Anthropic's Economic Index is a recurring research effort that uses privacy-preserving analysis of Claude usage data to track how AI is actually being used across the economy, rather than relying solely on self-reported survey data. The March 2026 report, subtitled “Learning Curves,” finds that usage is diversifying: the top ten tasks accounted for just 19 percent of Claude.ai traffic in February 2026, down from 24 percent in November, suggesting the range of real-world use cases is broadening rather than concentrating.

The report also finds that roughly 49 percent of jobs have now had at least a quarter of their tasks touched by Claude in some form, with adoption increasingly extending into lower-wage occupations rather than staying concentrated among highly credentialed knowledge workers.
