Lukas Biewald co-founded Weights & Biases in 2017 alongside Chris Van Pelt and Shawn Lewis, building a platform for tracking machine learning experiments and deploying AI applications that was adopted by organizations including OpenAI, Salesforce, and Microsoft. He previously co-founded and sold CrowdFlower (later Figure Eight), an early crowdsourced-data company.
CoreWeave completed its acquisition of Weights & Biases in May 2025 at a $1.7 billion valuation, folding the developer tooling platform Biewald built into CoreWeave's broader AI infrastructure business.
