He is one of the most cited researchers in modern deep learning, having co-authored foundational work including AlexNet and the sequence-to-sequence learning framework.
Under Sutskever, SSI has raised roughly $8 billion at a $32 billion valuation while deliberately avoiding the rapid product-release cycle that defines most of the AI industry, betting that solving alignment and safety before deployment is the more defensible long-term strategy, even without a shipped product or revenue to show for it yet.
