Edo Liberty founded Pinecone in 2019 and led the company as CEO for six years before transitioning to Chief Scientist. Before Pinecone, he was Director of Research at AWS and head of Amazon AI Labs, and he holds a PhD in computer science from Yale.
Liberty has published more than 70 papers on algorithms and machine learning, and Pinecone's serverless vector database, the product line he built the company around, remains widely used for retrieval-augmented generation in AI applications.
