Bret Taylor is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Sierra, the San Francisco-based AI agent platform company he launched in 2023 with former Google executive Clay Bavor. Taylor previously served as co-CEO of Salesforce, and before that held senior engineering roles at Google, where he co-created Google Maps, and later served as chief technology officer of Facebook. He also co-founded workplace collaboration company Quip, which was acquired by Salesforce.
Taylor also serves as chairman of OpenAI's board of directors, giving him a prominent dual role across two of the more closely watched companies in the AI industry. Under his leadership, Sierra has grown rapidly, reaching a $15.8 billion valuation in May 2026 as enterprise demand for AI customer service agents accelerated.
