Meta launched Muse Glimmer on August 10, an open-weight model that CNBC and TechCrunch described as offering a hint of Zuckerberg's personal intelligence vision. VentureBeat later described it as a 30-billion-parameter model under Apache 2.0 designed for smaller local setups.
Meta's open-weight line now spans a laptop-class model and the 816-billion-parameter Muse Spark Open released October 15, with the largest models under a custom license with a revenue threshold. A permissive Apache 2.0 license carries no such condition.
