The International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) is one of the field's two or three most important academic research venues, drawing the peer-reviewed papers that set much of the agenda for the following year's machine learning research. The 2027 edition runs July 4 to 9 in South America, with the host city not yet officially announced as of this writing.
Expected to draw 9,000 to 12,000 attendees, ICML pairs its research program with a growing industry-facing expo, reflecting how much of frontier AI research now originates inside commercial labs rather than purely academic settings. The paper submission deadline is January 28, 2027.
