Google DeepMind is Google's unified AI research division, formed in 2023 through the merger of DeepMind, the London-founded AI research lab acquired by Google in 2014, and Google Brain, Google's internal AI research team. The combined organization is led by Demis Hassabis, DeepMind's co-founder, and is responsible for Google's Gemini family of models as well as a substantial body of scientific AI research, including the AlphaFold protein structure prediction system that earned Hassabis and colleague John Jumper a share of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Google DeepMind's work spans consumer AI products integrated across Google's platforms, developer and enterprise offerings through Google Cloud, and fundamental research spanning reinforcement learning, scientific discovery, and model safety. The division remains headquartered in London with major operations across the United States.
