1X Technologies is a Norwegian-American robotics company developing general-purpose bipedal humanoid robots for home and light commercial use, backed by OpenAI. The company was founded in 2014 under the name Halodi Robotics by Norwegian roboticist Bernt Øivind Børnich, rebranding to 1X Technologies in 2023.
1X raised a $100 million Series B in January 2024 from EQT Ventures, Samsung NEXT, and Nistad Group, and reporting from September 2025 indicated the company was seeking to raise $1 billion in new funding, though that round's closing status and valuation could not be independently confirmed as of this writing. The company's NEO home humanoid robot began shipping from a new Hayward, California factory opened in April 2026.
