Amazon acquired Bee last year, and its October 15 launch of the $74.99 Bee Frontier and $99.99 Bee Eclipse is the first set of products since, TechCrunch reported. The business model pairs low-priced hardware with a subscription: free use covers summaries with 14 days of memory, while Bee Pro at $11.99 a month adds unlimited summaries and integrations with Amazon.com, Alexa+ and third-party apps.
The integrations point to Amazon's aim of making purchases and reminders hands-free from conversations. Amazon says raw audio is not stored and transcripts are encrypted with keys the device controls, a privacy design likely to be tested as always-listening devices spread.
