Alibaba's chip unit T-Head introduced the Zhenwu M890 in May, a chip for both training and inference with 144GB of GPU memory. In September at the Apsara Conference it introduced the Zhenwu V900, which Alibaba says is three times faster than the M890, slated for release in the third quarter of 2027.
The speed claim is Alibaba's own, and the V900's long lead time means it is a roadmap statement rather than a shipping product. Still, it shows China's largest cloud provider pursuing in-house silicon at a time when access to leading U.S. chips is restricted.
