Reflection AI is a New York-based AI lab founded in 2024 by Misha Laskin, its CEO, and Ioannis Antonoglou, its CTO. It positions itself as an American open frontier lab, an alternative to closed model developers, with a plan to release model weights publicly while keeping datasets and training pipelines proprietary. Laskin previously led reward modeling for Gemini at Google DeepMind, and Antonoglou co-created AlphaGo.
Nvidia led a $2 billion round in October 2025 and has invested $800 million in total, according to the Financial Times. Laskin told CNBC in April 2026 that the latest round closed at a $25 billion pre-money valuation. Its first product was Asimov, a code research and comprehension agent, and in October 2026 it released Beam, a 501-billion-parameter open-weight mixture-of-experts model trained on Nvidia GB300 systems rented from SpaceX under a June agreement worth up to $6.3 billion.
The Financial Times reported on October 11, 2026 that Nvidia is in early talks to acquire Reflection, acquihire its staff or invest more, with an agreement possible within weeks; neither company has commented, and the talks could collapse.
