After Mistral's 3 billion euro Series D, CEO Arthur Mensch said the funding would go toward building more infrastructure, including the company's own data centers, and renting out computing capacity, TechCrunch reported.
The strategy moves Mistral from a model developer toward a hybrid of model lab and cloud, which changes its economics and its competition. It also builds on the company's earlier $830 million of debt and its stated goal of 1 gigawatt of compute in Europe by 2030.
