Salesforce's 2026 survey of 2,025 agentic AI leaders finds the average enterprise now runs 12 AI agents, expected to reach 20 by 2027, with 83% of organizations reporting that most or all teams have adopted agents in some form. Among the 30% of companies already running agents in production, deployments reach ROI in about eight months on average, with a 53% employee adoption rate and a 29% average lift in customer satisfaction.
The report's more cautionary finding is on fragmentation: 50% of deployed agents currently operate in complete isolation from each other, and 96% of organizations report data barriers limiting AI use cases, pointing to orchestration and governance, not model capability, as the bottleneck most enterprises now face.
