Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI) is an AI research company focused exclusively on developing secure artificial general intelligence, aiming to minimize the risks of a superintelligence that could surpass human intelligence. The company was founded in June 2024 by Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's former chief scientist, alongside Daniel Gross, Apple's former AI lead, and researcher Daniel Levy.

SSI has raised roughly $8 billion in total funding at a $32 billion valuation, including a $5 billion commitment from Nvidia in July 2026, despite having released no public product or revenue to date. The Palo Alto lab employs roughly 50 people and has deliberately avoided the rapid, iterative deployment cycle most frontier labs follow, betting instead that solving safety before shipping is the more defensible long-term path.
