The Question Readers Ask Us Most About Our Commentary Section

One question about our commentary content comes up more than any other. Here's our honest answer.

The Question Readers Ask Us Most About Our Commentary Section

The most common question about our commentary section is how quickly we publish reaction to a given development, and whether that speed comes at the cost of considered judgment.

Why this tension is real

Commentary is most relevant close to the event it's responding to, but quick reaction inherently allows less time for considered judgment than a piece written with more distance.

Our actual approach

We try to publish commentary quickly when we have a genuinely considered take ready, and we're comfortable publishing later, or not at all, when we don't - rather than forcing commentary out on every notable development regardless of whether we have something substantive to say.

Why we don't comment on everything

Not every AI business development warrants a commentary piece from us specifically, and we'd rather stay quiet on developments where we don't have a genuinely useful perspective to add.

Why this restraint matters

We think commentary sections that comment on everything eventually say less of substance overall than ones that comment selectively, and we'd rather be the latter.
