52% of Enterprises Now Run AI Agents in Production

52% of enterprises have deployed AI agents in production as of 2026, with 74% of those reporting measurable ROI within the first year, and an average reported ROI of 171% across deployments, rising to 192% among US enterprises specifically. The figures suggest the gap between piloting agentic AI and actually running it in production has narrowed substantially compared with the generative AI adoption curve of 2023 and 2024.

A 171% average ROI figure should be read carefully: it almost certainly reflects survivorship among companies willing to report results, and says little about the roughly half of enterprises that haven't reached production deployment at all, many of which are likely stuck on exactly the infrastructure and governance barriers that more successful deployments had to solve first.
